Winner, 2007 Southern California MBA Case Competition
“Thought Leadership,” a four-member team of graduate students from UC Irvine’s Merage School of Business, won the second annual Association for Corporate Growth(ACG) MBA Cup among the 11 teams entered. Valued a company and provided strategic recommendations to a panel of investment bankers.
- Showcased business skills by simulating case study involving a company acquisition (written by investment banking firm) and presenting findings to judges

- Competition’s sponsoring organization (ACG) has 10,000 members from corporations, private equity, finance and professional service firms based in the United States, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Co-Director, National Melanoma Awareness Project [

Co-Director of the National Melanoma Awareness Project (NMAP), a project to educate local high school and junior high school students about melanoma, skin safety, cancer prevention and self screening
- Co-Founder Joel Myers Melanoma Awareness Fund(04/05-Pres): assist in the money management ($10,000) to fund annual melanoma education
- Joel Myers Melanoma Awareness Project (JMMAP): educated >3,500 students during 2004-2005 school year; co-manage recruitment and event organization
- National Melanoma Awareness Project (NMAP): spearheaded recruitment of 15+ medical schools who now utilize this education program; coordinate website production and maintenance
- Co-wrote Caring for Community Grant – pending
- Presented project via PowerPoint and Posters at AAMC National Meetings (2005, 2006) and AAMC Regional Meetings (2005, 2006)
Project Lead, UCI Medical Center “Resident Physician Satisfaction Survey Project”
Co-Founded and now coordinate innovative “Resident Physician Satisfaction Survey Project”, which benchmarks patient satisfaction with outpatient Residents and functions as a learning tool for Resident education
- Analyze monthly/quarterly results and present to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Spiritus
- Lead project with Case Management Project Manager to manage work flow, department compliance and consistency
- Managed trial period and current expansion to all outpatient medical departments at UCIMC
- Presented project to all Outpatient Clinic Managers and maintain each clinic’s progress
- Co-created survey and standardized speech to accompany survey
National Representative (UCI-SOM, AAMC-OSR)
One of two representatives from UCI-SOM elected to represent UCI-SOM to the Association of American Medical Colleges Organization of Student Representatives
- Liaison between AAMC and the UCI-SOM student body – disseminate information and represent student body opinion nationally
- Represent UCI-SOM at AAMC Annual Conferences (2003-2006) and AAMC Western Regional Conferences (2004-2007)

- Coordinate and integrate national AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges Organization of Student Representatives) communications issues within all medical schools in the Western United States
- Created first National Meeting Summary Sheet by organizing a team of 12 medical students from different schools to write articles about the national meetings
- Maintain Western Region AAMC-OSR website
- Attend monthly conferences which decide national communication issues including website organization, medical student education tools, and AAMC-OSR presentation tools

- Interviewed prospective UCI-SOM medical students and present my analysis to the admissions committee

- Tutored first year medical student in the basic sciences: physiology and histology

Coordinator, Iraqi Medical Student Book Drive, UCI-SOM (2004)
- Organized and implemented a non-denominational community service medical school book drive for Iraqi medical students (transport provided by the Army and funded by the UCI-SOM Office of Medical Education)
- Collected and donated over 200 books from UCI-SOM students
President, Real Deal Careers in Medicine, UCI-SOM (2003-2006)
- Co-coordinate, schedule, and promote a series of 15 UCI-SOM lunchtime ‘Real Deal Medical Specialty Talks’ that educate students on specialty choices, opportunities, and physician lifestyles
- Managed 8 Co-Coordinators to present 2004-2005 lectures
- Currently working on IRB study detailing the impact of the Real Deal Specialty talks on student career influences and mini-grant from American Medical Association
- Founded Interest Group in 05/04 to create a Real Deal team and to promote career education events

- Responsible for California Pacific Medical Center laboratory blood and urine processing, specimen shipping, inventory, supply organization, and study preparation for 20+ Hepatitis B&C research studies
- Managed study serum, plasma and liver biopsy banks of 10,000+ samples
- Co-Coordinated Roche Diagnostics Hepatitis C diagnostic study
- Performed phlebotomy for research studies – 500+ venipunctures

- Collaborated in a team to advise Guidant’s Vascular Intervention Group on new market penetration strategy

- Created Swing Dance Instruction business teaching over 1000 students through private lessons and weekly group lessons at the Recreational Sports Facility, Downtown Berkeley Hillel, UC Berkeley residence halls and fraternities/sororities
- Spearheaded the first Swing dance class and first Swing club offered on the UC Berkeley campus
- Marketed and organized the “Swing Dance Benefit for the Survivors of Hurricane Mitch” in December 98 and “Swing Dance for Kosovo” in May 99 each attracting over 400 people and raising thousands for charity
